Starting with v1.4.5, the Windows build will only support Windows 7 and newer. V1.4.7 is the last version of CoolTerm available as a universal binary supporting OS X 10.6 or older, click here to download. Please use the forums to share your experiences with other users. Please use these builds at your own risk. The LINUX and Raspberry Pi builds have been posted here as a courtesy to the users that asked for it. While almost everything is expected to work as expected, only minimal testing using virtual machines has been performed to confirm that all the features work properly. The LINUX and Raspberry Pi versions are not "officially" (meaning: "not well") supported. All newer versions will only be available as 64-bit builds. Note that version 1.7.0 is the last 32-bit build for macOS. The 32-bit builds are still available and can be downloaded here: Win / Linux Starting with version 1.6.0, the default for all platforms (except Raspberry Pi) is 64-bit.
#USING XBEE WITH COOLTERM SERIAL#
The important part is that the xbees need to be able to transmit and receive by each other, on the same network ID.CoolTerm is a simple serial port terminal application (no terminal emulation) that is geared towards hobbyists and professionals with a need to exchange data with hardware connected to serial ports such as servo controllers, robotic kits, GPS receivers, microcontrollers, etc. Look at the lecture slides for ID and MY, DL settings. Now you are ready to configure the ID, MY, DL, etc., using AT commands. If you wait too long before you type another command, the XBee will stop responding to your requests. In the terminal window we are going to call the attention of the XBee by typing +++ DO NOT PRESS ENTER – but you should see “OK” appear once you do it. Plug into USB port and open connection in CoolTerm.Ĥ. Connect the XBEE you want to program to the xbee xplorer. Cool term settings can be copied from here ģ. We can use CoolTerm, or the Arduino serial monitor. You need a terminal program to communicate with the XBEE. I have recently upgraded to Mavericks and wonder if that is the source of my issue, but now when I connect to the Xbee using Coolterm and type +++, nothing happens. Click on the find module symbol which is on the top left of the screen and you will see a screen like the one below.

use the UART/DLINE switch on the xbee shield to switch the xbees connection from pins 0,1 (Arduino RX,TX) and pins 2,3 (for use with software serial.).One thing to remember is the timing requirements of that method and that the 'command interface' will time out and become non-responsive. You should be able to setup the XBee using the AT commands after the '+++'.
